INHEMES: "Industrielle Herstellung von Metallsulfiden durch mechano-chemische Aktivierung in Schwingmühlen" (Industrial production of metal sulphides by mechanochemical activation in vibration mills)

Sulphides are usually produced by the complex and expensive wet chemical procedures with metal dissolution, sulphide precipitation, solid-liquid separation, drying and grinding steps. By solid-phase reactions between metals and sulphur in vibratory mill through mechanical activation it was managed to synthesize sulphides, e.g. copper sulphides, in one step. The key challenges of this process are the control of the temperature, spontaneous conversions which can be connected with self-ignition and process regulation. Excellence lays in the introduction of mechanical activation technology into industrial scale. This technology is expected to be applied in Japan and Great Britain.
