German Resource Research Institute

Project description

GERRI is a joint project to enhance research, development and innovation in the German commodity sector and to strengthen the German raw materials research in the international competition (Duration: 02.01.2015 - 31.10.2020). The project team consists of the five leading research institutes of the German commodity sector, each represented by an institution or a project group.

Within the virtual institute GERRI, the project team pursues the goal to capture and coordinate the national commodity expertise, infrastructures and strategies in a competency mapping. The thematic focus is on high technology metals and strategic economic resources, which are particularly important for the implementation of future technologies. The German research along the value chain of the mineral/ metal-containing raw materials should also be promoted internationally. After the funding phase, GERRI will continue as a separate network and be financed by industry and research funds. Until then, the main players on the German raw materials sector shall be networked together. Since January 2016 the "EIT RawMaterials GmbH" is connected as a partner.
